Gandhinagar, Ongoing

In the realm of urban housing, community landscapes within apartment complexes have assumed paramount importance. The surge in urbanization has led to a pressing need for mass housing, becoming the primary response to the influx of individuals seeking residence in cities. As urban fringes rapidly expand, the real estate market responds with the ubiquitous demand and supply of high-rise living structures.

The high-rise typology, however, raises concerns about the residents’ quality of life, as the ground floor and terrace often become the sole areas for relief. Consequently, the ground floor emerges as a communal gathering space, addressing the necessity for community congregation within these vertical living environments.

In every project, a deliberate effort is made to carve out diverse spaces tailored for various user groups, resulting in a plethora of programs. The landscape in this context serves not only as a design element for soft-scaping but also as a means to fashion the ground plane into a community “plaza.” From segregating vehicular and pedestrian movement to delineating children’s play areas and strategically placing amenities in alignment with the overall floor plan’s orientation, the landscape design becomes an intricate tool in weaving together a larger fabric of community life.

This specific project ingeniously utilizes the spaces between buildings and the available “COP” (Common Open Space) to craft an environment ideal for high-rise living residents. Through meticulous integration of each component, the landscape design not only enhances the aesthetics but also fosters a cohesive and vibrant community living experience within the vertical confines of urban apartments
