Jio Institute

Navi Mumbai, India

Spread across 27 acres, the Jio Institute Transit Campus is located in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai. The master plan as envisioned by Groundwork Architecture, Ahmedabad, utilizes all existing infrastructure on site, as the campus is imagined to be a transit/temporal campus, while the new campus is developed.

The idea behind the landscape for such a large site, near to the Arabian Sea, with Mumbai’s humid weather and for the purpose of institutional needs, required to be temporal yet robust.

The landscape is imagined for the various user groups from students, faculties and VIP’s. Fragmented in various zones, taking clues from the site conditions, the design consists of an academic lawn, sports fields, arrival plaza, central spine, parking and other plantation areas. The design brief was to create a World Class environment which acts as a preamble – an introduction to Jio Institute.
